Status of Air
Conditioning System
The proposal to provide air conditioning for the Parish has hit a few problems.
The ongoing investigation and discussion with contractors has been ongoing, and
the Parish Council is concerned with current cost estimates that are
substantially greater than initially thought.
The current estimates for the air conditioning and electrical work necessary to
service the entire Parish are in the $12,000 - $14,000 range. The Parish
Council has made a preliminary determination that it would not be prudent to go
forward with the project in its entirety with the costs that high. However, the
Council does recognize that it is very important to be able to provide a
reasonable environment for the altar area, and is considering going forward with
the electrical and air conditioning project for that part of the church.
The costs for that part of the project should be slightly more than half of the
cost, but would leave open the possibility to then cool the entire Church at a
later date.
Because donations and pledges were solicited on the basis that the entire Church
would be covered, the Parish Council wants to seek your input on this matter,
and to offer you the opportunity to confidentially withdraw your pledge or
contribution if you do not wish to support the downsized project.
Please let Jovan Dragovic or Michael Khoury know your thoughts. After we
receive your opinions and collect more information, the Parish Council will make
a decision during the Winter or early Spring.
